NXY Part One
Members in Attendance Evergreen Jackson Murdock (codename unknown) Ardent Superboy Phantom Ossorian Storm Krypton Phoenix
Field Report After seeing a news report spread out on the air waves, the students and teachers of Xavier's find themselves disturbed and worried for what the world is turning into. Once again, there was a young mutant killed, this time by what appeared to be police brutality. The mutant had only minor power, the ability to cause light from her hands, and the police, though she had surrendered on their command, had seen this as a threat and attacked with no remorse.
As a result, a peace rally was scheduled for later that afternoon, to be held in what was quickly becoming "Mutant Town", a weaving location of streets located between Hell's Kitchen and Harlem.
Having loaded up and headed out, the students find a semblance of peace going to the rally, enjoying music and speakers, showing their support for a fallen unknown comrade. It was very little, but it was something. Among the speakers are Matt Murdock himself, vowing to not let the injustice slide. An answer to the speech Magneto had made only moments before, urging those of mutant town to not let the injustice slide. To stand up and fight for the death of their fellow.
Even one of Xavier's own stands to speak against the injustice in her own way, playing a song and singing for the crowd beyond.
It is not until the people clear and the rally is finished that devastation follows in the peaceful wake.
A bomb under the stage detonates, Superboy taking quick action to stop the blast from blowing forward and into the team. Other students aid him as one of the newer students, Ardent, acts quickly to dispose of the fire surrounding the stage.
As the chaos dies down, Storm, Krypton and Phoenix act in their official manner as the students begin to collect evidence and assess the damage among themselves. The evidence gathered becomes something of a worry, as Superboy and Evergreen work in tandem to find all of the shrapnel left behind. The shrapnel, is plastic, the device clearly designed to target one person on stage, the bomb, military grade, have been faulty and detonating at the wrong time, to the relief of most involved, if not all. But the other worrisome information was that the bomb was placed within five minutes of Magneto taking the stage, security promising that they had checked just before the man made his speech.
It is then that Superboy shares his encounter with a young woman, a teleporter, whom he informs the group was a hooker as well. She had been complaining about the pretty words said at the rally while it was being held and had teleported to a nearby apartment to meet with a John. He had invited her to the school, knowing that she needed a better life than the one she was handed, but with new evidence it was clear he could have given important information to an enemy.
In the end, the team concludes that there are only two suspects they were aware of that could have planted the bomb were this teleporting hooker, and Quicksilver, Magneto's son, to what end there were many theories.
