Here is an update and a reminder note to all the players in the game. Xavier's academy is first and foremost a teen superhero game. That means you are all playing superheroes. You get to have cool powers, fight villains, face threats to the populous and the universe. The other thing is, you are teenagers. In some cases very young teenagers with all of your powers still new and coming in.
This last thing is the problem as of late for the Gamemaster. None of you should be playing as if you have absolute mastery of your powers. Mistakes should be happening, growth spurts should be confusing and in some cases frightening. This is true of the kid who can only lift 50 tons or the kid who can manipulate the omnimegasuperforce of the universe.
Next off is that you guys are kids...not miniature adults whose only problem is that you need to steal Scott's car to drive because you don't have a driver's license. None of your characters have the life experience of Scott, Ryan, Logan or Jean. Try to remember that before you post. Yes you have trauma in your lives but not 20+ years of stuff to deal with things behind your or to adjust fully to your own life messes.
Lastly, the adults. OK, I know that sometimes it seems that I have them be a bit lax on your all. That is facilitate you being able to get into plots. If I didn't suspend disbelief, then there would be no superhero anything in the game because they would have you all on such tight lock down there would be no superhero bits at all. That is not what the game is supposed to be, as much as I like social stuff.
You all need the freedom to get into some heroic scraps and messes. However, if every time the Parents, teachers or whomever don't stop you guys I am going to get a ton of "and I am going to diss teacher X" then the GM will begin to talk to you OOC. Rather than do that, please just cut the game a little slack.
The adults are npc, there to help out the stories, sometimes they will lock yall down, other times they will let stuff slip as plot needs them to. I can't run the game if I have to constantly stop to deal with one of you ranting about "irresponsible adults" or a long winded diss the grown up session resulting in a runaway because you were told "no" in the game.
So, the next time Hank sends you to the room, by all means rumble and complain, but go to your room. The next time you have an emotional tiff with someone, find a PC to talk it over with. I have too many players to do teen bumper tag with all of you each time things get rough.
